Check out the new Crunch Fitness location in St. Cloud!
A new gym is about to open in St. Cloud.
Crunch Fitness is putting the finishing touches on their new club, which will open on Halloween morning, Thursday, October 31st. It is in the space formerly occupied by Sears at the Crossroads Shopping Center.
Crunch is a national chain with 433 other clubs nationwide and in Puerto Rico, Canada, Spain, Portugal, Costa Rica and Australia.
Newly enrolled members of the St. Cloud watched the club on Thursday as they picked up their club access cards and other valuables for becoming “club founders.”
And while there’s a lot of painting, cleaning and organizing before the club opens for practice, come with us and take a look at the new St. Cloud.
St. Cloud’s Crunch Fitness is opening at 4101 West Division Street — in the former Sears Crossroads Shopping Center. The gym has an outside entrance, but no entrance from inside the mall.
Next to the main desk are rows of cardio equipment. People climb the stairs and bikes parked here.
Here’s a stair climber’s view of the many TV monitors across the gym floor.
Beyond are people climbing stairs — a treadmill.
So much for the “cardio row.”
The weightlifting area is divided into zones. Here, benches and racks and racks of dumbbells.
Benches can be used flat or horizontal.
Next to the benches, chest benches with weight racks at each station.
Words of encouragement.
Beyond the dumbbells are 10 Olympic weightlifting platforms. These can be used for a variety of barbell lifts including deadlifts, clean-and-jerks, snatches and squats. Each station has its own weight, making it quick and easy to load the bar for your workout.
And, of course, a mirror has been added to help you check your form.
In addition to free weight classes, there are many weight machines to isolate certain muscle groups.
Crunch also offers many private classes or studios. This is a High Intensity Interval Training class for performance training. All the equipment in the class is independent and the class can continue without disturbing the people who use the main gym floor. (Watch out for puncture bags, jump boxes and tire halves for tire flips.)
A wide selection of kettlebells…
… and dumbbells are available. Dumbbells and plates are coordinated in bright colors to make them easy to place.
This one bedroom studio is under construction…
… like a cycling studio. Note the effect of the “choir riser” to keep all the passengers able to keep an eye on the instructor who would be near where the ladder is. This studio has a lot of visuals that should go well with a good sound system for spinning and cycling classes.
There are no excuses to skip leg day! There are many foot presses.
Need a late job? Matrix-style lat machines stand at the ready.
Preloaded curls and straight barbell bars are hacked and rarin’ to go.
You may sweat JUST WALKING in the gym. It is very big.
And although it was overwhelming when I looked at all the equipment, even on the pre-opening tours there were many employees to answer questions and show people around. You just have to ask.
And although it was not yet open for reading, near the front desk it will be Rest and Get Well area with Hydro Massage, tanning and 360 Scan body contouring services.
There’s still a lot to do before the Crunch opens for its first practice on Halloween morning. But this area is attractive and promises to provide another good option for the exercise of local residents.
